Full Description
The Arc of the United States is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for and supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. Founded in 1950, The Arc works to ensure that individuals with IDD have the same rights, opportunities, and access to community life as everyone else. The organization provides a wide range of resources, including educational programs, advocacy tools, and support services, to help people with disabilities live independently and fully participate in society.
Through its network of state and local chapters, The Arc promotes inclusion in schools, workplaces, and communities, while also influencing public policy to protect the rights of people with IDD. Key areas of focus include promoting self-determination, improving healthcare and housing access, supporting employment opportunities, and ensuring that individuals and their families have a voice in decisions that affect their lives. By combining advocacy, education, and community support, The Arc of the United States works to create a society where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
